Baseball Game Preview: Technology Titans vs. Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans

The Technology Titans will face off against the Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Technology after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Sonoma Academy, falling 16-5. Titans fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Coyotes since on Tuesday.

Pablo Chinchilla was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Sean McGunagle was another key player, earning two runs and one stolen base.

Rio Lindo Adventist couldn't beat Summerfield Waldorf on Tuesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Spartans lost 19-6 to the Mustangs. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Rio Lindo Adventist saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vincent Barcenas, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Barcenas has become a key player for the Spartans: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Grant Dietrich also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Technology's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Rio Lindo Adventist, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Technology has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rio Lindo Adventist struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Everything went Technology's way against Rio Lindo Adventist in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Technology made off with a 9-2 victory. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
