Basketball Recap: Plantation Comes Up Short

Plantation lost against Cooper City back in January of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Plantation Colonels fell 75-62 to the Cooper City Cowboys. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (60), the Colonels still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, Plantation still got an impressive performance from Jabari Washington, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 11 rebounds. Washington has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Sahmaj Alcime, who posted 11 points.

Even though they lost, Plantation smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in nine consecutive matches.

Leading Cooper City to victory were Jamier Johnston and Noah Rupert. Johnston dropped a double-double on 31 points and 14 boards, while Rupert dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. Those 20 points gave Rupert a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiel Polanco, who earned six points and seven assists.

Plantation has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Cooper City, the win got them back to even at 10-10.

Plantation wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 90-12 victory against Hollywood Hills on the 27th. As for Cooper City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, an 83-66 win against Flanagan on the 27th.
