Douglas County is 7-2 against Castle View since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Huskies will welcome the Sabercats at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Douglas County was handed a eight-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Highlands Ranch 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Huskies have posted since March 22, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Gunner Tinari, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Maicah Cabral, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Tinari wasn't the only one making solid contact: Douglas County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The Huskies are 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Castle View never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against ThunderRidge as they made off with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Sabercats have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Castle View also got a great performance from Gabriel Grandy as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Grandy has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Tommy Feldhake was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Tyler Feldhake was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Castle View's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Douglas County, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8.
