Villanova Prep is still winless after their contest against Hueneme on Friday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hueneme Vikings. One positive for the Wildcats, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the loss, Villanova Prep had strong showings from Hunter Comden, who posted 16 points, and Emilio Misisco, who had 19 points. Misisco continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Villanova Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Hueneme, with the victory, they broke their eight-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-7.

Villanova Prep will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Thacher at 6:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Villanova Prep has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Hueneme, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Nordhoff at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
