Softball Recap: Central's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Six must be Central's lucky number: they beat South Elgin with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Rockets beat the Storm by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-1 on Saturday.

Isabelle Reed spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sophia Koertgen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Mei Shirokawa, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

The win made it two in a row for Central and bumps their season record up to 9-11-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for South Elgin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-5.
