Volleyball Recap: Palm Springs Takes a Loss

Palm Springs was the 2-0 winner over Apple Valley when they last played one another back in October of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Indians fell just short of the Sun Devils by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Palm Springs started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 17-25, 18-25, 25-13, 28-26, 15-13.

Despite the loss, Palm Springs still got an impressive performance from Shayna Manning, who had nine kills and seven aces. Manning has been hot, having also posted 13 or more assists the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Dayanarah Munoz, who had five kills and four aces.

Apple Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was ABIGAIL NICKLASON, who had 13 digs and two aces. Those 13 digs gave NICKLASON a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of SALLY BALLAT, who had seven digs and two aces.

Palm Springs now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Apple Valley, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Palm Springs has already played their next game, a 2-0 win against JW North on the 16th. As for Apple Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Citrus Hill on the 13th.
