Softball Recap: Westminster Academy Comes Up Short

Westminster Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 4, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Westminster Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Archbishop McCarthy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Westminster Academy and Archbishop McCarthy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. The Lions will face off against Seminole Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (97 vs. 209). Meanwhile, Archbishop McCarthy (ranked 82nd) will meet Cypress Bay (ranked 229th) at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
