Basketball Game Preview: Marietta Blue Devils vs. Hardaway Hawks

The Marietta Blue Devils will face off against the Hardaway Hawks at 1:40 p.m. on Monday. Marietta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.

On Saturday, Marietta was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-49 to Webb. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 65th in Georgia, while the Spartans are ranked third in Tennessee).

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Kyann Senior, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 rebounds. The match was her third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Leah DeWitt, who went 7 of 17 on her way to 20 points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Marietta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 19 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Hardaway's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Hoover by a score of 60-57.

Marietta's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Hardaway, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
