Softball Game Preview: Rock Falls Rockets vs. Stillman Valley Cardinals

The Rock Falls Rockets will take on the Stillman Valley Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Rock Falls was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Byron on Monday. The Rockets put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-1 victory. The Rockets not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10th (when they won 13-0).

Korah Hosler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last five contests. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Rock Falls got a massive performance out of Maddison Morgan, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Morgan has posted over her last 12 games. Kendra Scott was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.

Rock Falls kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Byron only managed four hits.

Meanwhile, Stillman Valley entered their tilt with Winnebago on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Indians 12-2. Considering the Cardinals have won six matchups by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Stillman Valley's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Rock Falls, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-15.
