Soccer Game Preview: Rio Americano vs. Christian Brothers

The Rio Americano Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Christian Brothers Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Christian Brothers will be up against a hot Rio Americano team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Rio Americano came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Inderkum. Two seems to be a good number for the Raiders as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Trey Howell-Chase and Isaac Carillo scored both of Rio Americano's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Meanwhile, Christian Brothers kept a clean sheet against Inderkum on Friday. They had just enough and edged the Tigers out 1-0. The win was all the more spectacular given the Falcons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while the Tigers are ranked 149th).

Rio Americano now has a winning record of 7-6-2. As for Christian Brothers, the victory got them back to even at 7-7-7.

Rio Americano skirted past Christian Brothers 1-0 when the teams last played back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rio Americano since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
