Softball Recap: Willow Canyon Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Willow Canyon was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Lake Havasu on Tuesday. The Wildcats never let the Knights get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Easton Spriggs made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Mataya Olson was a standout: she scored three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Liberty James, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Willow Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Havasu only posted an OBP of .000.

Willow Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Lake Havasu, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

Willow Canyon will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Knights: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
