Basketball Recap: Marcellus Skates Past Sherburne-Earlville with Ease

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Marcellus walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat the Sherburne-Earlville Marauders 72-42. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 24 points or more this season.

Marcellus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mitch Donegan led the charge by on his way to 15 points. Donegan is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dom Gosh-Sandy, who en route to 14 points.

Marcellus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Marcellus' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.3 points over those games. As for Sherburne-Earlville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.

As of now, neither Marcellus nor Sherburne-Earlville have any future games scheduled.
