Basketball Recap: Manning Takes a Loss

Manning was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 51-38 to the Dillon Wildcats. The Monarchs lost against the Wildcats in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 66-32 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Manning lost, don't look at Ameerah Conyers. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Taniya Johnson, who went 5 of 8 en route to 10 points and four steals.

Khwnylahi Mckinnon had a dynamite game for Dillon, going 10 of 22 on her way to 25 points along with eight steals and five boards. That's the most points Mckinnon has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayonna Lester, who posted five points and three steals.

Manning's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Dillon, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.

Manning didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-33 victory against Williamsburg Academy on the 28th. As for Dillon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 42-41 loss against Scott's Branch on the 28th.
