Softball Recap: Burney Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Burney, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Mt. Shasta Bears with a sharp 10-0 victory on Monday. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Mia Perez was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaliyah Perez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Emily Aubuchon also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Burney pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Shasta, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Burney beat the Bears by a score of 6-5 later that day.
