Football Recap: Mountlake Terrace Piles Up the Points Against Monroe + How To Watch

Mountlake Terrace extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 5-0. They blew past the Monroe Bearcats 48-7. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.

Mountlake Terrace was led to victory by Mason Wilson and Owen Boswell. Wilson rushed for 137 yards and one TD on only eight carries, while Boswell rushed for 84 yards and three scores on only ten carries. Wilson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 95-yard run. Mountlake Terrace also got help from Aaron Hatfield, who showed off his sure hands for 82 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mountlake Terrace was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 322 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 240 rushing yards in six consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

As for Monroe, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5. The game marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Monroe still got an impressive performance from Chris Britt, who threw for 132 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 70 yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Mountlake Terrace will square off against Shorewood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Hawks 2.6, the Stormrays 9.6) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Monroe, they will challenge Camas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
