Softball Recap: Seattle Prep Panthers vs. Liberty Patriots

Seattle Prep had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 5-14 to make it five. They fell just short of the Liberty Patriots by a score of 5-4. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Liberty, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.

For Liberty's part, Avery Huh made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 20 batters over eight innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Those 20 strikeouts gave Huh a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Isabella Rockey was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Kaila Siu was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Seattle Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberty, they will host Roosevelt at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Roughriders have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
