Basketball Recap: Broxton Gall's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ness City over Quinter

After flying high against Chase last Friday, Ness City came back down to earth. The Ness City Eagles fell to the Quinter Bulldogs 61-56. The Eagles lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 70-37 score last time.

Ness City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Broxton Gall, who went 5 for 8 en route to 14 points along with seven assists and four steals. Those 14 points gave Gall a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charles Parsons, who posted ten points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Shea S Salyers was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 13 on his way to 22 points and eight boards for Quinter. S Salyers has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Caedmon Bridges was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Ness City now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Quinter, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Ness City will be taking part in a tournament against Rawlins County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Quinter, they will face off against Dighton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dighton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Quinter likes a good challenge.
