Preview: Ridge Red Devil vs. Union Farmers
The Ridge Red Devil will be playing in front of their home fans against the Union Farmers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Ridge has five straight wins, Union has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Saturday, Ridge strolled past Westfield with points to spare, taking the game 34-15. Given Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Westfield is ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Will Deady continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 183 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Jacob Giordano got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Union was the victim of a tough 27-6 defeat at the hands of Phillipsburg on Thursday.
Ridge's victory bumped their season record to 6-1 while Union's defeat dropped theirs to 4-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Ridge has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 233.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging 165.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything went Ridge's way against Union in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as Ridge made off with a 21-0 win. Will Ridge repeat their success, or does Union have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
