Baseball Recap: Pius X Gets the Win

York typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Pius X proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Dukes by a score of 5-2.

Lucas Newton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kai Vanis was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Samuel Aschwege, who went 1-for-3 with three runs.

Pius X now has a winning record of 11-10. As for York, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-7.

As of now, neither Pius X nor the Dukes have any future games scheduled.
