Williams Bay dropped their record down to 4-12 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 11-0 to the Johnson Creek Bluejays. The Bulldogs were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the three matchups prior), but the Bluejays' pitcher proved too tough.
Williams Bay saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynn Reinhardt, who went 2-for-3 with one double.
As for Johnson Creek, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-2. Considering they have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Johnson Creek's side, the result came thanks to Hailee Walk's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up ten Ks. Walk has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single walk in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Madi Brigowatz was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Fincutter, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Williams Bay is set to square off against their familiar foe Deerfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Johnson Creek will take on rival Parkview at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Bluejays' favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Vikings have been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
