Softball Recap: Torrey Pines Takes a Loss

Torrey Pines fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Steele Canyon on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 8-7. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Seiyoung Bae was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rebecca Clayton, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Torrey Pines' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Steele Canyon, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6-1 record this season.

Torrey Pines will be playing at home against Sage Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give the Falcons their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Steele Canyon, they will take on La Costa Canyon in a tournament on Friday.
