Preview: Mead vs. Niwot
After a short break, it's finally time for some more action. The Mead Mavericks will look to defend their home pitch on Wednesday against the Niwot Cougars at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Mead took care of business in their home opener two weeks ago (and then some). They put the hurt on Frederick with a sharp 4-1 win. Lexi Van Dyke had to tread lightly for part of the match after she was hit with a yellow card, but that was the only trouble Mead got from the refs.
Mead hit Frederick with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from
Katy Adler (2),
Reese Ormsby, and
Elena Gomez.
Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last game, Niwot made sure to put some goals up on the board against Wheat Ridge two weeks ago. Everything went their way against the Farmers as they made off with a 5-2 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 4-1.
Mead was the clear victor by a 6-0 margin over Niwot in their previous meeting back in March of 2023. Does Mead have another victory up their sleeve, or will Niwot turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
