Softball Game Preview: Badger Braves vs. St. John Fighting Herald

The Badger Braves will face off against the St. John Fighting Herald at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Badger will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Badger is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Harding on Thursday as they made off with a 16-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Braves in their matchups with the Skippers: they've now won eight in a row.

Samantha Bradbury was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kyleigh Hall was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Madison Lindus was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Badger was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for St. John's offense. They lost 11-0 to Mathews on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Fighting Herald in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.

St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Badger, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-4.

St. John's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Badger hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313.
