Basketball Recap: Millbrook Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Lucy Ellis and Grace Bardeen

Millbrook lost against Rocky Mount back in November and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Millbrook Wildcats received a blow as they fell 48-29 to the Rocky Mount Gryphons. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Millbrook had strong showings from Grace Bardeen, who posted 12 points, and Lucy Ellis, who had six points. Ellis is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

It was another big night for Kira Jones, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals for Rocky Mount. Keysha Mizzell was another key player, putting up 12 points and five steals.

With the loss, Millbrook broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-4. As for Rocky Mount, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Millbrook will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Heritage at 5:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. As for Rocky Mount, they will challenge Nash Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Rocky Mount is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.6 points per game this season.
