Softball Recap: Montgomery Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Montgomery put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Sullivan County Griffins with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Red Raiders, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Ava Hartman made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Montgomery got a big performance out of Madisyn Miller, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Delilah Preitz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

Montgomery kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in May of 2024.

Montgomery's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Sullivan County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Montgomery will face off against Line Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sullivan County, they will venture away from home to take on Muncy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
