Volleyball Recap: Devils Lake Takes a Loss

Devils Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hillsboro/Central Valley H-CV Burros.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Devils Lake sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 21-25, 25-23, 14-25, 15-9.

Despite the loss, Devils Lake still got an impressive performance from Julia McIvor, who had 29 digs and four aces. McIvor is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Kus, who had ten digs and five aces.

Devils Lake's loss dropped their record down to 5-3-1. As for Hillsboro/Central Valley, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.

Coming up, Devils Lake is taking a road trip to challenge Carrington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Firebirds surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hillsboro/Central Valley, they will be playing at home against Thompson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
