            Basketball Recap: Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders vs. Iona Prep Gaels        
        
		
        
        
            On Saturday, Archbishop Stepinac faced Iona Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Archbishop Stepinac Crusaders snuck past the Iona Prep Gaels with  a  64-60 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Crusaders also won the last time the pair played  back in February of 2024.

 Archbishop Stepinac was led to victory by  Jasiah Jervis and  Hassan Koureissi.  Jervis  went 7 for 12  on his way to 24  points in addition to seven  rebounds and three  steals, while  Koureissi  went 6 for 11  on his way to 18 points and three  steals. Jervis has been hot recently, having  posted two or more  steals the last three times he's  played.  Danny Carbuccia was another key player,  putting up seven points and nine  assists.
Archbishop Stepinac has  been performing  well recently as they've  won five of their last six games,  which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record  this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Iona Prep, their  defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1-1 and their overall record down to 7-5-1.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop Stepinac will square off against St. Raymond Boys at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. St. Raymond Boys has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Iona Prep, they will head out to  square off against Mt. St. Michael Academy  at 4:00  p.m.  on Tuesday.
