Basketball Game Preview: Mountain Island Charter Raptors vs. Christ the King Crusaders

The Mountain Island Charter Raptors will venture away from home to challenge the Christ the King Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Island Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Christ the King likes a good challenge.

On Friday, Mountain Island Charter came up short against Community School of Davidson and fell 81-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (66), the Raptors still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Christ the King ended up a good deal behind Pine Lake Prep on Friday and lost 64-47. While losing is never fun, the Crusaders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Pride are ranked 71st).

Mountain Island Charter has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Christ the King, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.

Mountain Island Charter came up short against Christ the King in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, falling 75-69. Can Mountain Island Charter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
