Recap: Charleroi Cougars vs. Waynesburg Central Raiders
This season hasn't been kind to The Charleroi Cougars, who are still winless after their ninth game. They lost to Waynesburg Central at home by a decisive 45-27 margin on Friday. Charleroi was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Waynesburg Central apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
Breydon Woods was a one-man wrecking crew for Waynesburg Central as he rushed for 270 yards while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Ross Tennant was another key contributor, gaining 148 total yards.
Charleroi's loss was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. As for Waynesburg Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Charleroi does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Waynesburg Central will head out on the road to face off against Imani Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Imani Christian Academy's favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last four matches.
