Minster starts season with victory at home

Recap: Minster Wildcats vs. Whitmer Panthers

Minster took care of business in their home opener on Saturday (barely). They had just enough and edged the Whitmer Panthers out 9-8.

Brooklyn Osterloh made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off 14 hits. Osterloh was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Linn, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Mikaela Hoskins, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

On Whitmer's side, Raegan Lapoint made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minster will challenge Elida at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Whitmer, they will head out on the road to face off against Start at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
