Basketball Recap: Geneva Triumphs

Geneva's game last Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They took down the First Academy Eagles 38-24.

First Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Weaver, who posted six points. Weaver is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Neiford, who scored nine points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Geneva's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for First Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2.

Geneva will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Trinity Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. First Academy will take on Real Life Christian Academy in a holiday battle at at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. First Academy is facing Real Life Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Real Life Christian Academy is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
