Softball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short

After flying high against Del Sol on Monday, Chaparral came back down to earth. The Cowboys lost 30-18 to the Pinecrest Academy Cadence Cougars on Wednesday. The Cowboys haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Angelina Carrillo was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Jessica Lopez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

Chaparral's loss dropped their record down to 7-13-1. As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-9.

Looking ahead, Chaparral will face off against Eldorado at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Sundevils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.41 runs per game on average), something the Cowboys will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Del Sol at 3:30 p.m.
