Basketball Game Preview: Red Lake County Central Mustangs vs. Roseau Rams

Red Lake County Central and Roseau are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Red Lake County Central Mustangs will head out to take on the Roseau Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Red Lake County Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 contests -- so hopefully Roseau likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Red Lake County Central didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Kittson Central, but they still walked away with a 57-53 victory. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Bearcats are ranked 188th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Roseau won against Goodridge/Grygla on Monday with 83 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. Roseau enjoyed a cozy 83-64 win over Grygla-Gatzke. The victory was familiar territory for the Rams who have now won six games in a row.

Roseau has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points per game. As for Red Lake County Central, they pushed their record up to 11-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Everything came up roses for Red Lake County Central against Roseau in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured an 85-54 victory. Will Red Lake County Central repeat their success, or does Roseau have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
