Bishop Verot has gone a perfect 8-0 against Oasis recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Vikings will square off against the Sharks at 7:00 p.m. Bishop Verot is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Bishop Verot's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Saturday's struggle, when Doral Academy hitters got past them. The Vikings lost 11-2 to the Firebirds two weeks ago. The Vikings' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
McKenna Robbins was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Oasis had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Griffins as they made off with a 14-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Sharks, who have now won ten matches by nine runs or more so far this season.
Kyra Cavender and Meesha Neujahr were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Cavender struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Neujahr struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Cavender has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Cavender got on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double, while Neujahr got on base in two of her three plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases Neujahr has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Emma Neujahr was a standout: she went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Kaitlyn McGee was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Oasis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gateway Charter only posted a batting average of .062.
Oasis now has a winning record of 13-12. As for Bishop Verot, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.
Oasis' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bishop Verot has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Oasis, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given Bishop Verot's sizable advantage in that area, the Sharks will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bishop Verot took their victory against Oasis when the teams last played back in May of 2019 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
