Basketball Game Preview: Edmund Burke Academy Spartans vs. Glascock County Panthers

Edmund Burke Academy can't be too worried about heading out to take on Glascock County: they just beat Briarwood Academy at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Edmund Burke Academy came out on top against Briarwood Academy by a score of 56-46 on Tuesday.

Leila Eastmead was her usual excellent self, going 5 for 11 on her way to 17 points and seven steals. Eastmead is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. Payton Palmer was another key player, putting up 17 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Edmund Burke Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 24 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Glascock County didn't have too much trouble with Georgia Military College on Tuesday as they won 53-35. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Edmund Burke Academy pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Glascock County, their victory bumped their record up to 10-13.

Edmund Burke Academy beat Glascock County 54-43 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Edmund Burke Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
