Soccer Game Preview: Sandburg vs. Stagg

The Sandburg Eagles will face off against the Stagg Chargers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Sandburg and Lockport had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Porters who were credited with the victory last Saturday. Sandburg haven't had much luck with Lockport recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Stagg headed into their last contest having not scored more than one goal for six straight, but Tinley Park let them put that streak behind them. The Chargers walked away with a 4-2 win over the Titans on Thursday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Stagg's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 207th, while Tinley Park are ranked 97th).

Sandburg's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7-3. As for Stagg, the win snapped their losing streak at eight matches and leaves them with a 6-11 record.

Sandburg got the 'W' in their previous meeting two weeks ago against Stagg by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
