Two dominant signal callers in Maguire Gasperson and Jacob Janecek are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Argyle Eagles will be playing at home against the Lovejoy Leopards at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lovejoy will be up against a hot Argyle team: the squad just extended their winning streak to nine. The Eagles blew past The Colony 56-14 on Friday. With the Eagles ahead 42-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Argyle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Nelson led the charge by rushing for 46 yards and two touchdowns. Logan Rexroat was in the mix as well, providing the Eagles with two scores.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Argyle proved: they limited The Colony to a paltry 3.4 yards per carry. While four picked up at least six total tackles, Landon Howald stood above the rest. He made six total tackles (3.0 for loss) and snagged an interception. Argyle didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged seven.
Meanwhile, Lovejoy got themselves on the board against Memorial on Friday, but Memorial never followed suit. They claimed a resounding 49-0 win over the Warriors. The Leopards haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Argyle better keep an eye on Zach Jones. He was instrumental in Lovejoy's win, rushing for 214 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 carries, while also catching one touchdown. With that strong performance, Jones is now averaging an impressive 101.3 rushing yards per game. Brody Hesson was another key player, picking up 99 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lovejoy's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.
Lovejoy's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Argyle, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Everything went Argyle's way against Lovejoy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as Argyle made off with a 42-17 win. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Leopards turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
