Softball Recap: Monticello Takes a Loss

Monticello fell victim to Spotswood and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Trailblazers, falling 6-0. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Trailblazers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Monticello saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Delaney Via, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.

Monticello's defeat dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Spotswood, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monticello will challenge Fluvanna County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Flying Flucos' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Spotswood, they will face off against William Monroe at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (the Trailblazers have three straight victories, the Dragons have five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
