Softball Recap: Roosevelt Roughriders vs. Franklin Quakers

Roosevelt was the 6-2 winner over Franklin when they last played one another back in May of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Roosevelt Roughriders fell 12-9 to the Franklin Quakers on Thursday.

Zulaykha Armstrachan made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Taylor Wisner, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

On Franklin's side, Grace Vaupel looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.

On the hitting side, Bobbi Jean Wixon and Elsie Ostrom did most of the damage at the plate: Jean Wixon scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Ostrom scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Kate Reed was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Roosevelt has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Franklin, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
