Softball Game Preview: Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs vs. New Smyrna Beach Barracudas

The Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs will square off against the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flagler Palm Coast will be strutting in after a win while New Smyrna Beach will be coming in after a loss.

Having struggled with eight defeats in a row, Flagler Palm Coast turned things around against Menendez on Monday. They never let the Falcons get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory. The Bulldogs not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since February 25th.

Not much got past Ashleigh Pigeon, who gave up just four hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Menendez off the board. What's more, Pigeon gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Mackenzie West was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Layla Sackett also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, New Smyrna Beach was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 7-0 to DeLand.

New Smyrna Beach saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Layton, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

New Smyrna Beach's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Flagler Palm Coast, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-10.

Flagler Palm Coast beat New Smyrna Beach 7-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Does Flagler Palm Coast have another victory up their sleeve, or will New Smyrna Beach turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
