Baseball Recap: Burbank Takes a Loss

Burbank extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 17-11 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the MacArthur Brahmas. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since March 22, 2024.

Matthew Meza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Burbank saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Roman Garcia, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

As for MacArthur, they pushed their record up to 19-7 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.

On MacArthur's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and he was also dialed-in: Wyatt Stevens gave up just two earned runs on five hits.

At the plate, MacArthur let J.T. Gray and Ivan Castillo run wild. Gray went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Castillo went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits Castillo has posted since back in February.

As of now, neither Burbank nor MacArthur have any future games scheduled.
