Baseball Game Preview: Carter Green Hornets vs. Maryville Christian Eagles

Carter has gone a perfect 4-0 against Maryville Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Carter Green Hornets will head out on the road to take on the Maryville Christian Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Carter is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Carter barely beat Maryville Christian the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Everything went Carter's way against Maryville Christian on Thursday as Carter made off with an 8-1 win. The Green Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Cainan Crowe made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double.

Crowe wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Luke Burnette, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Kingston Griph also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Carter always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive games.

Carter pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Maryville Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
