Basketball Preview: Carlisle Thundering Herd vs. Waynesboro Indians

Carlisle has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Waynesboro Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Carlisle's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.

Even though Carlisle has not done well against the Rams recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Carlisle secured a 73-67 W over the Rams. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Meanwhile, Waynesboro unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Greencastle-Antrim by a score of 41-39. While losing is never fun, Waynesboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 450th, while the Blue Devils are ranked 186th).

Carlisle pushed their record up to 17-3 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.4 points per game. As for Waynesboro, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-10.

Carlisle was able to grind out a solid win over the Indians in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 66-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carlisle since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
