Basketball Recap: Hannah Miano's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Eagle Valley over Montrose + How To Watch

If Eagle Valley was feeling good fresh off their 44-22 takedown of Weld Central on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Devils lost 55-31 to the Montrose Red Hawks on Saturday. The Devils were not able to make up for their defeat to the Red Hawks from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

Eagle Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Hannah Miano, who shot 83% from the field to rack up 15 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Webster, who posted seven points and four steals.

Mayce Oberg was the offensive standout of the matchup as she went 7-for-10 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in shooting accuracy (70%). Another player making a difference was Lilly Nelson, who put up six points along with seven boards and three steals.

Eagle Valley now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Montrose, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Coming up, Eagle Valley will face off against Severance at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Montrose, they will take on Basalt in a tournament on Thursday.
