Recap: Schuyler County Rams vs. North Shelby Raiders
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Schuyler County Rams walked away with it. They took down North Shelby 56-40 on Friday. The victory was nothing new for Schuyler County as they're now sitting on five straight.
Schuyler County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mayson Humphrey, who picked up 168 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Humphrey has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more receiving yards the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Connor Smith, who threw for 230 yards and five touchdowns while completing 73.7% of his passes.
Schuyler County's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Slater and 2-9 Knox County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34.6% over those games). As for North Shelby, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Schuyler County's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Knox County at 7:00 p.m. on November 11th. Hopefully Knox County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five last Friday. North Shelby does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
