Basketball Recap: Glenn Hills Takes a Loss

Glenn Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 32nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 67-28 loss at the hands of the Statesboro Blue Devils. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 481st, while the Blue Devils are ranked 63rd).

Statesboro found their leader in sophomore Devin Mikell, who went 5 of 11 en route to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dartavian (DJ) Brown, who posted eight points and three steals.

Glenn Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Statesboro, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glenn Hills will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Burke County at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Statesboro, they will be playing at home against Bulloch Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Statesboro is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.5 points per game this season.
