Softball Game Preview: Gruver Greyhounds vs. Follett Panthers

The Gruver Greyhounds will challenge the Follett Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gruver has five straight victories, Follett has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Gruver got the win against Highland Park by a conclusive 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Greyhounds, who have now won four matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, while it was Follett who put the first runs on the board on Monday, it was Booker who put up more. The Panthers came up short against the Kiowas, falling 27-8.

Gruver pushed their record up to 6-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Follett, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Gruver suffered a grim 16-8 defeat to Follett in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Greyhounds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
