Football Game Preview: Pearl River Pirates vs. Sleepy Hollow Horsemen

The Pearl River Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Sleepy Hollow Horsemen at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Pearl River has given up an average of 25.5 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pearl River came up short against Bronxville on Friday, falling 41-21. The loss was the Pirates' first of the season.

Despite their loss, Pearl River saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kieran Fitzgerald, who picked up 129 receiving yards and one touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. Fitzgerald's longest reception was for an incredible 82 yards. TJ Lanese was another key player, having thrown for 251 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Sleepy Hollow's contest on Friday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. They blew past Nanuet 31-10. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Horsemen considering their 13-point performance the game before.

Pearl River better keep an eye on Brayden Richardson. He was instrumental in Sleepy Hollow's win, rushing for 264 yards and four TDs while picking up 12.6 yards per carry. Those 264 rushing yards gave Richardson a new career-high.

Sleepy Hollow's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Pearl River, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 3-1.

Everything came up roses for Pearl River against Sleepy Hollow when the teams last played back in September of 2023, as the team secured a 49-7 win. In that matchup, the Pirates amassed a halftime lead of 28-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Saturday.
