Softball Recap: Colerain Wins Going Away Against Middletown

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Anderson, Colerain was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Middletown Middies with a sharp 17-2 win. This was payback for the Cardinals, who suffered a 4-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Olivia Woodson was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Woodson was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Natali McGuire was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Rylee Selmeyer was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs.

Colerain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Colerain's victory bumped their record up to 3-8. As for Middletown, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Colerain is taking a road trip to face off against Sycamore at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Aviators have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Middletown, they will host Edgewood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
