Basketball Recap: Russell County Comes Up Short

Russell County lost against Park Crossing two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Russell County Warriors were outmatched by the Park Crossing Thunderbirds and fell 92-33. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked fifth).

Saniya Jackson was her usual excellent self, going 8 for 11 en route to 25 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds for Park Crossing. Jackson's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Maliyah Meeks was another key player, going 7 of 9 on her way to 19 points and five boards.

Russell County dropped their record down to 11-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Park Crossing, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 26-1.

Russell County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Northside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Park Crossing has already played their next match (against Selma), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
